SHB20216 Certificate II in Salon Assistant


This is the perfect introduction to the hairdressing industry. You will learn how to interact with clients professionally, provide assistance to senior colleagues and follow workplace health and safety procedures.

At MCOHB, all students practice on real paying clients in our commercial salon and graduate with the self-confidence and skills to interact and engage with proficiency. You will be job ready to perform and demonstrate the professional skills required for industry.

Please note: This course is not available to International Students.

Requirements: Applicants must be a minimum age of 15

After achieving this qualification, individuals can undertake:

  • Certificate III in Hairdressing
  • Hairdressing Apprenticeship

Job Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, you can become a salon assistant, or receptionist.

Training is in a classroom setting, with a mix of practical work on clients, written work, workshops, and group discussion. Assessment includes project work, demonstration of skills & participation in discussions and debates, written and oral tests and presentations.

This is a practical qualification with a lot of hands-on assessment and mandatory hours that students must complete before being eligible for graduation so attendance is important to ensure successful completion of this qualification. All skills assessments will be required to be carried out on paying members of the public.
